Again teaming up with Peter & Paul Snowden, WJB purchased five horses for the week, three of which were in conjunction with new and existing clients of the Snowden Stable.
In a market that zeroed in on quality, the market was extremely competitive towards the top end of the buying bench with a lack of speculative players looking to purchase at the lower end of the market.
Having purchased nine horses in conjunction with Snowden Racing throughout the 2022 yearling sale season, the tally this year has grown to sixteen at the conclusion of the Easter Sale.
Our purchases this week included an I Am Invincible filly (pictured above) from the Scat Daddy mare, Spanish Pipedream (LOT 376) for $900,000 who had the best attributes of her speed laden broodmare sire balanced with the quality of her sire.
Extreme Choice has the most enviable record of any young stallion in the southern hemisphere and it was pleasing to partner with the Victorian Alliance and Suman Hedge in a very robust colt from a G1 American pedigree (LOT 126). Although a 1st of November foal, you must not forget that last years Blue Diamond winner, Daumier, was born on 26th November.
Coolmore’s Justify kicked things off Down Under with Learning To Fly picking up the Ferrari for Annabel Neasham and connections and it was pleasing to purchase filly from the stallions stud from Marianne, a mare trained by Peter & Paul (LOT 219). Justify had seven individual stakes winners from his first Northern Hemisphere crop spread across both dirt and turf so he has had a strong start.
Paris Dior (Pierro) was a brave winner of the G2 Percy Sykes Stakes last year and it was pleasing to secure her 3/4 brother in blood by Lonhro from the Coolmore draft (LOT 120). A later maturing three-year-old type, he will be given time to furnish and hopefully he can deliver on the excellent record of his sister.
