Two purchases at Inglis Premier Sale with Neasham Racing

In a very selective market that once again honed in on quality (trending), it was pleasing to purchase two nice fillies with Annabel Neasham Racing.

Our first purchase was a very athletic SHAMUS AWARD filly – LOT 117 for A$200,000 from the draft of Stonehouse Thoroughbreds.

When you think of elite stallions in Australia who produce stakes winners to runners at over 5%, there are very few and SHAMUS AWARD is one of them (currently 6.5% SW/Runners).

Having produced six individual Group One winners amongst 24 stakes winners (another good strike rate), this filly is out of a COMMANDS mare who has already produced the multiple stakes winner, CORNER POCKET (Toronado).

Our second purchase for the week was a CAPITALIST filly from the Group Three winning two-year-old in Japan, BELUGA (JPN).

The Japanese racing and breeding industry has shot the lights out internationally in recent years and it must not be underestimated how difficult it is to win a Group Three two-year-old contest in the land of the rising sun.

Raced by Robert Anderson, BELUGA beat the subsequent Group One winner, MOZU SUPERFLARE (Speightstown) in the Group Three before being retired to be stud in Australia.

This filly is the mares third foal and hails from a very deep international family and on type appears to be a perfect hybrid between the length and scope of Japanese horses and the speed of CAPITALIST.

Annabel was particularly fond of the filly having had success with daughters of CAPITALIST including the stakes winning two-year-old CASTANYA.
