Freshened for the two-day Scone carnival, TUILERIES (So You Think) overcame a weight-carrying record of 59.5kg to claim her second Group Three victory in the Dark Jewel Classic.
After racing too fiercely in the Group Two Emancipation Stakes at her previous start, a one-week freshen-up at Hannover Lodge, followed by a barrier trial, proved the ideal formula from the Snowden stable.
The TUILERIES we saw as a three-year-old was back on display, producing a blistering turn of foot under a perfectly judged ride from Chad Schofield, who knows the mare exceptionally well.
Attention now turns to Brisbane, with the Group Two Dane Ripper Stakes at Eagle Farm on June 13 a likely target before a possible tilt at the Group One Tattersall’s Tiara on June 27.
Earlier on the card, SHADY ROAD (Written Tycoon) defied her long odds to produce a sizzling third placing in the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes over 1100m for three-year-old fillies.
Stepping out second-up and kept to 1100m, the strong tempo allowed her to settle and finish powerfully, going down by less than a long head in a blanket finish.
With black type now alongside her pedigree, the Inglis Easter graduate, owned by the Bernick family, can hopefully go on to secure stakes success of her own.
TUILERIES was purchased for $360,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft by Snowden Racing and is raced by WJB’s Elated Bloodstock, named in honour of Vain’s dam, Elated.
