Racing in New South Wales has gone from strength to strength over the preceding decades but the industry’s participants should not be complacent and need to continue to work hard to ensure the longevity of the industry we care so much about.
Without adequate funding capacity the industry cannot be sustained but currently the Hazzard review of the Thoroughbred Racing Act does not include the scope to examine the industry’s funding model and the relationship between Racing NSW and the State Government.
Much has changed since the Act’s inception in 1996 and a crucial element omitted from the review is what drives the everyday workings of the industry, its funding.
With this in mind, I have joined the steering committee of the recently formed, Racing Reform Group NSW in an attempt to broaden the scope of the Hazzard review.
I implore you to follow this link, learn more about what is at stake and to have your say.
