In what was billed to be a true litmus test of the strength and depth of the yearling market, selling across the three days of the William Inglis Classic Sale once again showed a focus on quality.
Having teamed up with Annabel Neasham Racing on the Gold Coast and in New Zealand for a handful of purchases, we were once again able to buy terrific physicals at fantastic price points from A$70,000 through to A$260,000.
Purchases included:
LOT 29 – Zousain x Xaar’s Jewel – A$160,000
A half-sister to two Group two winners bred at Edinglassie which also bred ZOUSAIN, this filly is very forward for a November foal and will continue to develop. The purchase came two days before ZOUSAIN’s first winner, DRIFTING (purchased by WJB at the 2023 William Iinglis Classic Yearling Sale for the same price. (FIND OUT MORE)

LOT 461 – Wootton Bassett x Marchena – A$230,000
Having walked away from the Gold Coast unhappy not to have purchased a Wootton Bassett, the patience was rewarded with a stunning colt secured at the Riverside complex. From a fast, early two-year-old family, WOOTTON BASSETT colts/geldings have excelled with 12% Stakes Winners / Runners. This colt walks like a panther and looks capable of running before Christmas. LOT 552 – Circus Maximus x Our Josephina – A$260,000
Bred to be a three-year-old Classic horse, it is unlikely another horse moved as well across the sales grounds as this colt. A stunning physical with two Derby winners in his pedigree, this horse looks tailormade to be competitive in such races. His breeder, Greg Perry has bred the likes of ARISTIA, ARTORIUS & MARABI to name but a few top line horses. (FIND OUT MORE)
LOT 695 – Wootton Bassett x Silently – A$60,000:
Late on the final day of trade as the sales complex dispersed to the airport, there was one horse secured particularly inexpensively – a colt by Wootton Bassett from a family well known by all. It is unlikely another Wootton Bassett will be secured at that price point for the remainder of the year! (FIND OUT MORE)
